Turn inanimate objects into characters in your stories
Teaching workshop with focus on active writing exercises on the four basics of novel writing. Use sensory perception that heightens adding flesh and bone to your characters, create vivid settings, strengthen your plot, and craft communication between characters with believable, strong dialogue.
Many books have used this technique to build strong characters that stand the test of time. We'll discuss examples such as The Queen of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland, Tara in Gone with the Wind, Wilson the volleyball in the screenplay Castaway, and Lake Tahoe in The Language of the Lake.
Workshop exercise and share time. Hand-out to take home. Class limit 12.
